Heavenly

The soft blue sky envelops us, taking us on a journey that starts at the cool aqua dawn and ends at the edge of a calm, golden lit horizon. As children lay in grassy fields imagining cloud sailboats floating through the sky, young lovers watch sun rays pour out of a cloud covered sky atop a picnic blanket in the county.

Larimar or blue pectolite's beautiful blue color is often considered to embody the beautiful blue colors of the sky and sea. It is an extremely rare gemstone found only in one location: a mountainous, relatively inaccessible area in the province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic. Also called the Atlantis Stone, Larimar, has been linked to the lost continent of Atlantis and been claimed by metaphysical experts to be one of the best healing stones.

Colored, like turquoise (for which it is often mistaken) by copper, the stone has a magnificently speckled, sometimes web-like blue and white appearance that makes it seem as if a piece of sky fell to earth and was set in jewelry. This vista-like, scenic quality is quite unique making it a delightful and attractive stone for jewelry.

The Jewelry:

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire,
which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity,
but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.”

~Washington Irving
